I really do not understand what you are asking. Personally I would stay away from the X1600 ATI card. It is not that great. You would be better off with a Nvida 7600GT card. This is coming from a guy using a ATI X800XL card.

The 7600GT would be my card of choice if I needed a new card right now.

Is your x1600 PCI-E or AGP??? what Make is it??? Sapphire? PowerColor, or an ATI Original?? etc... -- 'tweaking' and if it can be tweaked, all depends on what 3rd party (or not) made the card...

Well go ahead and buy that "thing". Trust me I have read on that card and the older X800XL series is faster. It is a glorifide X600 plain and simple.

Google that card you are looking at...I mean write down the model number and Google the card with the word REVIEW after it....see for yourself.

Yes I have heard they run hotter too. Try leaving the PCI slot next to the AGP slot opened. Remove the slot cover on the back too. It should cool it down some.

You might have to use a Driver Cleaner before installing the X1600 drivers.

ok, the monitor 'blinking'.. its when you open/close or minimize/maximize a game isnt it???

all the x1000 series of cards do this, Its mode/resolution switching, thats all, and its nothing to worry about..

as for what "Old Dood" said about them being slower than the x800 series, thats not QUITE true...

My AGP, x1600, scores the same as my m8s PCI-E x850 in 3Dmark06..

the x1600 is the Budget end of the x10k series (with the x1800/x1900 being the top end)

Just as the x300/x600 was the low end of the x800/x850

the x10k series have a smaller die, and the latest pixel shaders etc..

so in all, the x1600, is about the same as the x850 for performance (but with support for newer shaders etc)

.... yes, they do run a bit hotter, but they are also (in turn) designed to withstand a little more heat... the AGP versions (specifically sapphire) run extremely hot, they have a little chip on the back that is un cooled :\ - im strill trying to find out what this is for

The little chip on the back is the pci express converter, just like the x800xl agp, it is a native pci-e card just converted for agp.

Also, of course your x1600 will better an x850 in 3dmark06, it was developed with ps3 in mind, the x850 doesn't have it. Run your 1600 against the 850 in 3dmark05 or 03, you will then see which card is faster. Also if you look at the specs of the 2 cards, the x1600 has a lower core clock speed, memory interface at 128bit compared to 256bit on the x850.. which means lower bandwidth plus the fact it has less pipelines and vertex shaders. Dont get me wrong the x1600 is an ok card, but it is not on par with the x850. ok, the new ringbus technology gives it a bit more oomph, but the only advantage it has is pixel shader 3.

the monitor blinkin was due to the catalyst control so i disable it i just intall the drivers i dont like that.

Im having heat problems on my computer i just bough a radiator from a website and for now im installing 2 more fans so cease the overheating,

The other isue i had is that the dirvers that came with the card are not good to use them on guildwars. i had to download the new drivers.

So for now im stable just have the over heating problem but the card rocks i have tried Fear, call of duty 2 and half life at maxed just to see the real power.
